Odwiedzilismy wioske o nazwie Castle Combe - urocze, spokojne miejsce.

As the 30th birthday of my husband was approaching, we decided to have a long weekend:). Of course, the weather was horrible (instead we spent a nice time at home, went to the cinema etc.), but finally yesterday, on Monday, it became sunny, so we went, as we had planned before, to Costwolds.
We visited a village called Castle Combe - a quiet, lovely place. In my guidebook I have read that for many centuries the villagers were involved in the cloth industry, as they were using the water power of the nearby river By Brook. Unfortunately,by the end of the 17th century the waters of the By Brook began to decrease in volume and many weavers went to other villages. By the beginning of the 19th century Castle Combe became only an agricultural village.
Nowadays Castle Combe is used as a location for many TV shows and movies (e.g. "Stardust") - that is why there are no television aerials, almost no parked cars, everything is supposed to look, and it does, as if the time stopped...
But I have to admit, I did not feel the comercialism that shoud theoretically surround such place. Maybe the reason was that we came here on a weekday, and there were almost no tourists. It was lovely to have a walk on the streets of Castle Combe, admiring the old, but well taken care of stone cottages and beautiful flowers on the window sills:).
Okolice Castle Combe tez maja wiele do zaoferowania:).
The surroundings of Castle Combe also have lots to offer:). We went for a looong walk, and felt a bit like on holidays, passing sheep-runs and flowery meadows, it was so warm and sunny, does not happen so often here;)...
Ogolnie mowiac, spedzilismy bardzo mily dzien, a do Cotswolds na pewno wrocimy, aby odwiedzic kolejne wioski i nieznane miejsca...
Generally speaking, we had a very nice day, and will definately be back in Cotswolds, to visit another villages and unknown, pretty places...
