Irish soda bread

Dzis tylko jedno zdjecie.
I to niezbyt dobre (byl juz pozny wieczor).
Ale musicie mi uwierzyc na slowo, irlandzki chleb z dodatkiem sody jest przepyszny.
Prosty, rustykalny, z brazowa skorka i chrupiacymi platkami owsianymi w srodku:).
I co najlepsze, przepis jest super prosty:

500 g maki razowej
150 g maki pszennej
50 g platkow owsianych
1 lyzeczka sody do pieczenia
1 lyzeczka soli
475 -725 ml maslanki lub mleka zsiadlego

Wymieszac dobrze suche skladniki.
Ugniatac (niezbyt dlugo) stopniowo dodajac maslanke.
Piec 30-45 minut w piekarniku nagrzanym do 220°C.

Polecam swiezo pieczony posmarowany grubo maslem :).

Just one picture today.
And not a good one (it was late evening already).
But you have to believe me, if you are not familiar with the Irish soda bread already, this bread is fantastic.
Simple, rustic, with brown crust and crunchy oats:).
And it is extremely easy to make!

The recipe goes like this:

500 g whole wheat flour
150 g strong white flour
50 g oatmeal
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon salt
475 -725 ml buttermilk or sour milk

Mix the dry ingredients very well.
Moisten with the sour milk to form a soft dough. Knead lightly.
Place on a tin and bake for 30-45 minutes in the oven at 220°C.

Do try bake it and enjoy with lots of butter :).

Finally... a snowfall:))

Nareszcie i do Anglii zawitala zima. I snieg z prawdziwego zdarzenia.
Oczywiscie wiele szkol zostalo zamknietych, drogi w pol przejezdne itp itd... ale kilka dni chaosu chyba tak bardzo nam nie zaszkodzi?;)
Wiele osob zamiast isc do pracy, zostaje w domu z dziecmi, razem lepia balwany przed domem (dzis na spacerze naliczylam cztery!).
Mroz szczypie w policzki.
Jest fajnie:).

Finally we have winter in England. And a real snow, too.
Of course, many schools have been closed, motorways sometimes blocked etc... but a few days of chaos surely won't do us much harm?;)
Lots of people stayed home with their children instead of going to work, they play together, making snowman in the front garden (today on my walk I counted four!).
The frost nips at our cheeks.
It is great:).
